XCMG Engine Overheating & Hard Starting: Causes and Spare Parts
Engine faults stop a machine completely, so they're worth preventing. Whether your XCMG runs a diesel in an excavator, loader or crane, the failure modes are similar.
1. Overheating
- Low or wrong coolant → top up, check for leaks.
- Radiator blocked with dust/oil → clean externally.
- Thermostat stuck closed → no circulation.
- Water pump or fan clutch failed.
Stock a thermostat, water pump and a radiator — confirm codes in the catalog.
2. Hard starting (cold)
- Battery weak or terminals corroded.
- Starter motor dragging.
- Glow plugs (pre-heat) failed on diesel.
3. Hard starting (warm) / stalling
- Fuel filter / water separator clogged → starves injection.
- Injector worn → poor spray.
- Suction-side air leak in fuel lines.
