XCMG Excavator Hydraulic Problems: Troubleshooting & the Parts You'll Need
Most XCMG excavator downtime traces back to the hydraulic system. This guide covers the four faults owners report most, what to check, and which genuine parts to have on hand — for XE, XE2 and related families.
1. Slow or weak arm / boom
If the arm is sluggish or can't hold a load, pressure is leaking somewhere. Check in order:
- Hydraulic return filter clogged → starves flow. Replace per interval.
- Main pump wear / internal leak → low pressure under load. Confirm with a pressure test.
- Control valve or relief valve stuck → pressure bypasses. Inspect / reseal.
Typical parts: hydraulic filter, main-pump seal kit, control-valve seal kit, relief valve. Look each up by model in our free lookup tool.
2. Hydraulic oil overheating
- Low oil level or wrong viscosity.
- Hydraulic oil cooler blocked with debris → clean or replace.
- Thermostat / bypass valve stuck closed.
Order a cooler, thermostat and a fresh filter set from the catalog before summer load peaks.
3. Cylinder drift / load drops
A boom or arm that sags on its own means a worn seal or bushing in the cylinder. Don't ignore it — a drop is a safety risk.
- Cylinder seal kit (rod + piston seals).
- Buffer / cushion if the end-stop is soft.
4. Unusual noise or cavitation
Whining pumps usually mean air in the oil:
- Suction filter clogged or loose suction hose (air ingress).
- Low oil level.
Find and order the exact part
Open the free XCMG parts lookup tool, enter your model (e.g. XE215, XE490) and a keyword like "seal kit" or "pump", and it returns the exact code with the diagram. Then order on TIHPARTS with worldwide shipping. Saving the code list for your machine turns the next breakdown into a 10-minute order.
