XCMG Wheel Loader Won't Move or Shifts Hard: Drivetrain Fixes
When a wheel loader won't move or fights to change gear, the problem is almost always in the transmission, brakes or axles. Here is the shortlist for LW and ZL families (e.g. LW500KN, ZL50GN).
1. No drive / weak traction
- Transmission oil low or burnt → check level and smell.
- Transmission filter clogged → restricts flow.
- Torque converter worn → no power transfer.
- Brake not releasing → brake release valve or air system fault.
Key parts: transmission filter, brake release valve, torque converter, transmission oil pump.
2. Hard or delayed shifting
- Low line pressure (worn pump or leak).
- Shift solenoid / control valve dirty or failed.
- Clutch pack worn.
3. Slipping under load
Worn clutch plates or low pressure let the transmission slip. Replace the clutch plate set and transmission seal kit, then re-check pressure.
4. Axle and final-drive noise
- Low gear oil → final-drive seal or axle bearing failure.
- Worn planetary bearing → growling under load.
Order before you're stuck
Find every code in the XCMG parts catalog or the lookup tool, and keep a running spares list on TIHPARTS. A clutch kit ordered before failure is a same-day fix; ordered after, it's a tow and a rush shipment.
